Paul Skenes April 17, 2026

Paul Skenes is a generational talent with an electric arm! One glaring concern, mechanically, is the glove tuck! At 100mph, the arm is travelling at that speed. The ball ALWAYS slows down out of hand (eventually rolling to a stop). Therefore, your arm speed EQUALS your velocity! So by tucking the glove and stopping it at the armpit, with the arm coming through at 100mph…it causes an unnecessary violence upon release. This causes the arm to hit a wall, when it hits the glove…causing the violent recoil. Until the rotator cuff falls off the shoulder!

A simple but explosive glove drive allows the arm to get full extension, and full finish through the pitch! Giving more velocity from better extension at release, AND more spin rate because they are finishing through the pitch! The best part is that by driving the glove back through to centerfield, it allows the arm to decelerate, effortlessly, upon release!

GLOVE DRIVE EXAMPLES

Tarik Skubal – a perfect glove drive, maximizing the velocity, spin rates, and location! All effortlessly!

Cam Schlittler – another perfect glove drive, explosive, yet effortless finish!!

Shohei Ohtani demonstrating a perfect glove drive, with a full finish through the pitch, and full release! Allowing the arm to decelerate upon release!
